When taken every day as prescribed, PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99%.
For people who inject drugs, it lowers risk by at least 74%.
It does not protect against other STIs (like syphilis, gonorrhoea, or chlamydia) or pregnancy.
