Description

The Sputum – TB Micro (AFB/ZN) test involves microscopic examination of a sputum sample using acid-fast bacilli (AFB) staining, commonly the Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) method

This test is used to detect the presence of acid-fast bacilli associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. While it does not confirm drug sensitivity, TB microscopy plays an important role in the initial investigation and monitoring of tuberculosis, supporting timely diagnosis and treatment decisions.
